英語四級盲文試卷準備工作已就緒

Visually impaired students will be able to take the national college English test in Braille this summer, the Ministry of Education said last Tuesday.

教育部上周二表示，今夏，視力殘障學生將可參加全國大學英語盲文考試。

The announcement came after a female college student with impaired vision sued the ministry for failing to help her take the exam.

此番聲明是在一名視障女大學生起訴教育部未助其參加全國大學英語考試后發表的。

"Supported by the China Disabled Persons' Federation, the College English Test 4 will be available in Braille for the blind and visually impaired starting in June," the ministry's National Education Examinations Authority said. "It will address the needs of blind and visually impaired test takers."

教育部考試中心表示：“在中國殘疾人聯合會的支持下，自6月起，將為盲人和視障人士提供大學英語四級考試盲文試卷，滿足盲人和視障考生的需求。”

In some schools, students have to pass the CET 4 or CET 6 to get a diploma.

在部分院校中，學生必須通過大學英語四級或六級考試才能獲得文憑。

The certificate awarded to a student after passing the test adds weight to a resume when it comes time to look for a job.

在求職時，學生在通過考試后所獲得的英語四/六級證書能為其簡歷增色加分。

The ministry has previously made efforts to accommodate disabled students in national-level standard tests, such as the college admission exam.

此前，教育部一直努力在高考等全國性統一考試中為殘障考生提供便利。

According to a regulation issued by the ministry and the China Disabled Persons' Federation in April, visually impaired students should be given access to Braille or large-font exam papers.
