one用來替代前面出現的單數名詞，是泛指概念，通常替代a/an+單數名詞；the one用來替代前面提到的特指的單數名詞，后面總是有后置定語，有時可用that替代（尤其是在有后置定語的情況下）；ones 用來替代前面出現的復數名詞，也是泛指概念；the ones 用來替代前面的特指的復數名詞，有時可用those 替代（尤其在有后置定語的情況下）；that 用來替代前面出現的單數可數名詞或不可數名詞，只能指物，不能指人，相當于the+單數名詞或不可數名詞。It指代前面提到的事情或事物，強調同一性。例如：
