牛津實用英語語法:310 間接引語中的虛擬過去時

　　A 虛擬過去時如位于wish，would rather/sooner和it is time等之后，在間接引語中保持不變：

　　we wish we didnt have to take exams，said the children.

　　孩子們說：我們不考試就好了。相當于：

　　The children said they wished they didnt have to take exams.

　　孩子們說他們不考試就好了。

　　Bill wants to go alone，said Ann，but Id rather he went with a group.

　　比爾想一個人去，安說，但是我寧愿他跟一大群人一起去。相當于：

　　Ann said that Bill wanted to go alone but that shed rather he went with a group

　　安說比爾想一個人去，但她寧愿他跟一大群人一起去。

　　Its time we began planning our holidays，he said.

　　他說：我們該開始計劃我們休假的事了。相當于：

　　He said that it was time they began planning their holidays.

　　他說他們該開始計劃他們休假的事了。

　　B I/he/she/we/they had better在間接引語里保持不變。 you had better可以保持不變，或者用advise+賓語+不定式結構進行轉述：

　　The children had better go to bed early，said Tom.

　　湯姆說：孩子們最好早點睡覺。相當于：

　　Tom said that the children had better go to bed early.

　　湯姆說孩子們最好早睡覺。

　　Youd better not drink the water，she said.

　　她說：你最好不要喝這水。相當于：

　　She advised/warned us not to drink the water.

　　她勸告(或告誡)我們不要喝這水。

　　C 條件句類型2和類型3在間接引語里保持不變：

　　If my children were older I would emigrate，he said.

　　他說：如果我的孩子們再大點的話，我就會移居國外。相當于：

　　He said that if his children were older he would emigrate.

　　他說如果他的孩子們再大點的話他就會移居國外。
