漢語和英語兩種語言之間最基本的區別在于句法方面。英語重形合 ，句中各意群、成分都用適當的連接詞 、介詞 、非限定性動詞短語 或從句 等來表達其相互關系，因而結構嚴謹但缺乏彈性;而漢語句法則重意合，句中各意群、成分通過內在的聯系貫穿在一起，不一定或很少用連接詞、介詞，也沒有非限定性動詞短語或從句，因此結構松散，但富于彈性，從句子整體來看，意義清楚，不會產生誤解。
今天，我們就來分門別類地介紹一些英語詞類中最容易掌握，而且必須掌握的連接詞。
