體壇英語資訊:Carlos Alberto Parreira shows interest in coaching Chile
Currently unemployed, coach Carlos Alberto Parreira demonstrated his interest on Friday in coaching the Chilean national soccer team.
The announcement comes after Parreira learned that his name is among the list of candidates for the position.
Chile is in need of a new head coach because Marcelo Bielsa quit after Spanish native Jorge Segovia was named president of the National Association of Professional Soccer (ANFP).
Bielsa claims that it is unethical to have Segovia as president while he remains the owner of two Chilean teams.
Parreira coached the South African national soccer team in the 2010 World Cup. Previously, he led Brazil to their fourth World Cup title in 1994. He also coached the national teams of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Although stating that it would be an honor to coach Chile into the 2024 World Cup, Parreira said that no contact has been made nor are any negotiations under way.
